52 Pickup
Mike Murphy's 1952 Pickup "3G Hauler"
Murphy's '52 pickup (dubbed the 3G Hauler) is in the final stages of design and fabrication. As pictured below, it will ride on Torque Industries recently debuted "Torque 3G Chassis." The unique, pro-touring chassis incorporates the industry’s largest X-member along with a complete C5 sub-assembly. The power plant will be Corvette ( LS1) with a Kenne Bell supercharger, AFR heads, and a ZO6 camshaft. The stopping power will be provided by 14” diameter cross-drilled rotors (all 4 corners). The vehicle will rest on .
The build's emphasis will be on aggressive, streetable performance with special attention taken to achieve a 50/50 weight distribution. The rolling chassis was completed in February 2007. One notable features are the custom narrow control arms, that adapt the C5 cradles to the '52 Chevy's narrow width. Also the C5 monoleaf suspension was replaced with more track-friendly Penske coilovers.
Additional build details, events and sponsors will be outlined in the coming months. If you are interested in the project's ongoing progress or if you want to get involved as a potential sponsor, please contact Eckert's directly.
